Happy fall everyone! fall has slowly began to transition into my favorite season. Don’t get me wrong…I love summer. However, moving to Arizona has me longing for the 120 degree temps to drop and the “cold” to come in. (by cold I mean 80 degrees) This last week has finally started to actually feel like fall here in AZ, and it has me feeling the need to do a little fall shopping! I am LOVING some of the trends that are coming out this year for fall. A huge trend right now is statements sleeves. I have some of my favorite statement sleeves along with a ton more things that I have been eyeing recently linked below.

Being a Bride Again

Hey guys! September has turned out to be such a crazy/fun/busy month for us! We have family in town for 2 of the weeks, we are going to Utah next week, Alex’s work schedule is kind of nuts, and my work is just always nuts lol. But it’s OK! Don’t think that I am complaining. I love being busy and having lots to do. I think it helps you appreciate the little calm moments so much more, and we are so fortunate to be able to see our families and have steady jobs. Plus complaining is annoying lol The whole point of that was really to explain why we haven’t really had any time for working with photographers and why we have had a little dry spell in that department this last month.

We were so lucky though to have been able to do one shoot with one of our favorite photographers, Kali. She is actually one of the first photographers that we’ve worked with, and it is fun to see how much we have all grown since then. She is so stinkin talented and really fun to work with. AND she was kind enough to come over to our neck of the woods which really allowed us to be able to make this shoot happen.

When she told me that it was going to be a bridal shoot, I was SO excited. I really did love my own wedding dress, but it wasn’t exactly a real wedding dress. It was basically a cotton sun dress from Free People. So, I was excited to be able to put on a real wedding dress and play bride for the day. And, holy cow these FLOWERS! They were so stunning. I am such a sucker for flowers, and these ones did not disappoint. They would be so perfect for any Fall weddings coming up. Florist Instagram: Moelleux_events

7 Things

IMG_6557Happy Sunday everyone! I have been so stinkin busy recently with work and life, but I wanted to jump on here to do a little life update. So, here are 7 things I have been up to recently.

  1. I am SO excited that all of the Halloween/Fall things are coming to the stores right now. I went to Target today and made a fool of myself freaking out over the Fall section.
  2. I have been getting into yoga again. My gym does yoga classes several times a week, and I have been taking full advantage. I tend to be a little bit of a stressed human, and yoga has helped me be able to get into a peaceful place for at lease an hour a couple times a week. I am still no where near a pro. In fact, I still cant touch my toes. But, I’m getting there.
  3. Due to Alex’s crazy work schedule, we have had to take a break from shooting with local photographers. However, we were so lucky to have been able to find a time to shoot with Kali M Photos  , and I am so obsessed with the photos that she took. The one above was taken by her in our home. I will be posting the rest in a later post:)
  4. I’m back to blonde! I went back to my natural color a couple months ago, but really missed the blonde. So, I went back to my FAVORITE salon here in Arizona called, Habit. They are the only people I trust taking me blonde, and my hair stylist, Ellie, did such an amazing job. If anyone in AZ is looking for a good hair stylist, she’s your girl.
  5. I have been on a Vanderpump Rules binge for a couple weeks now. I am actually watching it right now. (side note, Lisa Vanderpump is my idol. She owns like 30 animals, only wears pink, and lives in a palace…my dream)
  6. Alex and I are going to Utah next month for a his brother’s wedding. I am so excited to get a little break from the heat and hopefully get a little taste of some Fall weather.
  7. My sister and I have had Demi Lovato’s new song, Sorry not Sorry on repeat since we first heard it. If anyone is in need of a good work out or dancing in the car song, this one is perfect!

I hope everyone has a a great memorial day weekend!

3 Shirts 3 Ways

I think it’s no secret that I have an obsession with graphic t-shirts. I love how you can dress them up and down. I love how many different designs and sayings. Thread Tank has some of my favorite tees right now. They are SO soft, SO comfy, and SO cute! Here are my 3 favorite shirts styled 3 different ways.

Sea Shells. I think this one is my favorite, and I get so many compliments every time I wear it! I love styling it with my distressed Levis, a cute sandal, and my trusty black hat. Side note, Target has the BEST flannels. I got this one last year, but they come out with them every year around this time. It is super light weight and soft. I love them.

Explorer . This outfit is perfect for transitioning into Fall. For a warmer day, you can tie the flannel around your waist (that’s still cool right? haha) and for colder days you can wear it normal. As you can see, Maverick really likes this one:)

Cactus. I can’t have a t-shirt collection without a cactus shirt. This is also a cute outfit for Fall, (can you tell that I’m ready for Fall?) This photo basically has all my current favorites. This is my favorite jean jacket, my favorite high waisted black pants, my favorite shoes, and my favorite hair scarf. Putting them all together in one outfit makes me so happy. It’s the small things right?

I hope everyone has a great week!

Billy Sky Boho Jewelry

Hello everyone and happy Sunday!

I am starting a new series on my blog where I spot light some amazing brands and artists that I am obsessed with for a lack of a better word! The first brand I am featuring is called Billy Sky. Lauren, the owner, has created some of my favorite jewelry pieces that I have seen in a long time. They are the perfect mix of feminine and edgy. Bellow, Lauren did a little Q and A for me where she answered all the questions I had about her amazing brand!

You have the best style! How would you describe your style and where do you get your style inspiration?

Aw thank you! You can say my passion for style started at a very young age. My Grandfather was a clothing manufacturer in Los Angeles and I don’t think there is one woman I was close to growing up that didn’t have a great sense of style. Planet Blue Malibu has always been my absolute favorite boutique and I continue to draw inspiration from their amazing journey. I also get a lot of style inspiration through music, especially from the 70s era. As far as my style goes I love to play along the lines of mixing feminine with edgy.

How did you get into jewelry design?

I actually started Billy Sky as a vintage resale business and started making handmade jewelry to style with the clothes. After having children, I decided just to focus on growing the jewelry end of the brand. I would love to bring clothing design back in one day though!!

I’m not sure if you could ever pick, but do you have a favorite piece that you’ve designed?

The beaded fringe earrings are and have always been a favorite design because they have evolved so much through the years. It is wonderful to get to change the design as seasons change. I also love the newest large Crescent Statement Necklaces. I love designing pieces that are maticulously imperfect.

Where do you see your brand in 5 years?

For the next 5 years I will continue to grow Billy Sky Lifestyle Brand, achieving goals and letting the process unfold…by the end of 5 years I would hope to end up somewhere magical ✨

If there is anything else you want my readers to know about your or your jewelry, feel free to share it!

There is so much love put into every single piece made. So many of my clients express to me how many compliments they get on their Billy Sky. It feels wonderful knowing I am making people’s day brighter by doing what I love.

Well, there it is guys! The necklace that she sent me is one of my favorite pieces I own. I have already gotten so many compliments and it is truly a work of art that I get to wear around my neck! I can’t wait to see what else Lauren brings to the table and where her brand goes. I am foreseeing big things!

Kimonos and Graphic Tees

There have been two things that I have been obsessed with recently…graphic tees and kimonos/dusters. And when you put the two together, you’ve got the perfect outfit in my opinion. Here me out…the graphic tee adds a little personality to your outfit. It can say something about you without you having to say anything at all! This one is actually one of the most comfortable tshirts that I have put on my body. It has that worn in feel without having that worn in (dingy) look. OBSESSED. Now to the kimono. It adds a little boho vibe to the outfit and feels like a robe/blanket. See what I mean? The perfect outfit. I have a feeling this is going to be my new uniform for the remainder of the summer and beginning of fall. IMG_4650Processed with VSCO with a6 presetProcessed with VSCO with a6 presetProcessed with VSCO with a6 presetIMG_4640

Escape Room and 7 Things

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

One of my favorite bloggers, Amber Fillerup, has a series called 12 things where she updates her readers of whats happening in her life. I love reading it and thought it would be fun to do something similar on here. I think it’ll be fun to look back on here and see what we were up to at the time. So, here are SEVEN things that we have been up to lately.

  1. We did an escape room last weekend and LOVED it. My dad and sister were in town, and we have all always wanted to do one. We went over to Lock Down in Scottsdale and seriously had the best time. Basically, for those of you who don’t know what a Lock Down room is, you are locked in a room and have 60 min to find clues and solve riddles to help you get out of the room. It was a really fun way to use our brains and still have fun at the same time. I highly recommend it to anyone! We are actually already planning on going again for my mom’s birthday.
  2. It is monsoon season, and I’ve never been so scared. I have been terrified of storms since I was a little girl. These Arizona storms are no joke. Everyone pray for me.
  3. School starts again next week! I am a big ball of mixed emotions. Part of me is excited and another part of me wants to run away.
  4. We have been on a serious sushi kick. Ive eaten sushi a couple times a week for the last month. I actually can’t stop!
  5. Big Brother is back on! I actually only got into Big Brother last summer, and I am totally hooked. If anyone is in need of a new show, try it out!
  6. Target’s clothing and shoes are killing it right now. I recently spent a nice chunk of money on some really cute clothes from there. Outfit pictures to come.
  7. Now that school is about to start, I am ready for fall. Bring on the pumpkin spice, boots, and cooler (ish) weather.

I hope everyone has a great week and thanks for stopping by!

5 Tips for Petite Girls

For those of you who have never actually met me in real life, you may not know that I am short. Like, 5 feet (5’1 on a good day) short. Every time I meet someone that I have met through social media, the first thing they always say to me is, “I didn’t realize how little you are!” Every single time. And, I actually take this as a huge compliment. I feel like that means that I have figured out how to trick people into thinking that I am not as short as I really am! Below I have my 5 tricks that can help any short girl.

Processed with VSCO with a4 preset

  1. High-waisted bottoms are your friend. I think that high-waisted shorts, skirts, and pants can make your legs look so much longer than they actually are. I love high-waisted maxi skirts. They are so flattering and can make your legs look like they go on for days.

  2. So, you found a really cute high waisted maxi skirt. You go try it on, and it is a foot too long. This literally happens to me maybe every single time I try a maxi on. There is nothing that makes you look shorter than pants or skirts that are too long. Well, I have found the BEST solution! It is called hem tape and it is possibly the best thing that has happened to my wardrobe in a long time. It is basically tape that you can “hem” your skirts or pants with. There is no sewing involved, and it takes maybe 5 minutes to do. I used it on the skirt above and it saved me from having to get it tailored. Processed with VSCO with c1 preset
  3. Find cropped jeans. Almost all of my favorite “pants” are actually cropped jeans or capris that fit me like normal pants. I swear by this trick. There is something about jeans that fit perfectly length wise that really makes you look taller. (I also get cropped leggings and yoga pants) In the photo above, I am wearing “crops” and they fit like a glove! Processed with VSCO with a6 preset
  4. Use a small purse. I haven’t used a big purse in years. They are so heavy, and I tend to fill it up with unnecessary stuff that I do not need. I also dislike them because they make a petite girl look smaller than they already are! Small purses, however, don’t overpower your body and complement your size. Processed with VSCO with a4 preset
  5. Tuck it in, tie it, or crop it. This kind of goes along with tip #1, but when you wear the high waisted bottoms, you need to make sure you are showing off ALL of your legs! Long shirts can cut your body in half and get rid of your waist. I tuck in the front of almost all my shirts regardless of the high waist. By simply tucking in your shirt, it can make your legs look longer and add some structure to your body!

I hope this helps out all my short girls out there! I know the pain of trying to find clothes that fit and not looking long and tall in photos. I hope these tricks help, and feel free to leave any tips that you might have below!

How cute is this top?! I love the big, full sleeves, the light and airy material, and the beautiful embroidery. I think it is so summery paired with these white shorts and sandals but will also transition into fall and winter paired with skinnies and boots. I’m all about pieces that I can wear all year long.

The other day, I was going through my closest and realized I own almost no red clothing! It’s not that I dislike the color. I just am never drawn to red clothes for some reason. And to be honest, I have a whole lot of blue and neutrals and pretty much nothing else haha whoops! (Does anyone else have that problem?!) So, anyways, I have now made it a goal to expand my wardrobe and this top was a perfect transition into the world of red! The red embroidery such a cute and fun pop and then I can still stay in my comfort zone of neutrals everywhere else. Baby steps guys!

I hope everyone has an amazing week!

Syd & Al in the City

To be honest, I actually am not a fan of the city. Big cities make me kind of nervous, and I find so much more beauty in the ocean, country, or mountains than I do in the city. After this photoshoot, however, I have now seen how beautiful the city can be. I loved the way the sun shined on the buildings, the architecture, and the overall vibe. I was truly blown away with how beautiful these pictures turned out. I may still not be a city girl, but I can pretend to be every once in a while if it looks like this.
